Welcome to the official webpage of the EGCA – Champions League 2024 Krakow Qualification Stage. The stage will be held in Krakow, Poland on 22nd – 25th February 2024 organized by WBR Groundhogs Krakow and EGCA. Top 3 clubs of the competition will secure their place at the Final Stage that will be held in Blankenberge, Belgium on 27th June – 1st July 2024.

Krakow Stage will be played at the HALA 100-LECIA KS CRACOVIA 1906 (address: AL. MARSZAŁKA FERDINANDA FOCHA 40, 30119 Krakow).

WBR Groundhogs Krakow is quite young goalball club from the beautiful city of Krakow. They made their debut in the Polish Goalball League in 2017 and after that the club has developed its goalball activities and achieved a lot of success in the domestic goalball competitions.

Last season Groundhogs Krakow made very outstanding debut performance in the Champions League when it reached the 2nd place at the Lyon Qualification Stage and finally the 5th place at the Final Stage in Vilnius. The team has a lot of young super talent athletes like the fresh U19 IBSA Goalball World Champion and top scorer of the Youth World Championships Marcin Czerwinski.

PLAY SYSTEM & GROUPS

There are 10 participating clubs in the competition and they are divided in two groups as follows:

Group A: WBR Groundhogs Krakow (POL), Ha. Vi. 2 Bruxelles (BEL), Old Power (FIN), Fen Tigers (GBR), FC Porto (POR)

Group B: Invasport Ukraine (UKR), RGC Hansa (GER), ASD Omero Bergamo (ITA), Aisti Sport (FIN), Näpäjä (FIN)

There will be a single round robin played in the groups and the group winners will secure straight their place in the final game of the tournament as well as to the Final Stage of the season. The runner-ups of the groups will take on the 3rd team from an opposite group in the play-off games; winners of play-off games will meet in the bronze game and the winner of that game will be qualified to the Final Stage of the season. There will be also placement games for places 5 – 10 at the stage.

– Teams will earn 3 points from a victory, 1 point from a tie and 0 points from a loss;

– Teams ranking in the tournament with single or double round robin as well as in group stage will be determined as follow:

A. Earned points;

B. Goal Difference;

C. Missed Goals;

D. If parameters A – C are equal between two teams, better is a team who has won their respective match;

E. If the respective match has finished tie, better is a team who has led at half time;

F. If parameters are still equal and two teams are competing the victory of the stage there will be organized extra throws competition to determine the winner of the stage.

If we will have a draw there will be 2 * 3 minutes over time with golden goal rule and possible extra throw competition in the play-off, medal and placement games.

Tournament jury is consisted by:

Chief Referee – Bas Spaans (may be replaced with another referee who has not judged the match subject to protest)

Tournament Director – Piotr Skotnicki (may be replaced with another team representative who has not been a player, coach or staff member in the match subject to protest)
