PARTICIPATING CLUBS, GROUPS AND GAME SYSTEM
Please find line-ups of the participating teams here
The tournament in Utrecht was the 3rd edition of the EGCA Youth Championships. There were 9 participating clubs from 6 different countries participating in the tournament which is the new record of the competition.
The participating clubs were divided into two groups. Group A included 5 teams and Group B 4 teams as follow:
Group A: RGC Hansa (GER), Northern Allstars (GBR), USV Hercules (NED), BSI Copenhagen (DEN), GC Leipzig (GER)
Group B: FSBU Gothenburg (SWE), Aarhus Goalball (DEN), Aisti Sport (FIN), Füchse Berlin (GER)
Teams played a single round robin in the groups. Group winners continued straight to the semifinals. The runner-ups of the groups took on the 3rd ranked team of the opposite group in the play off games. The winners of the play off games continued to the semifinal & medal games, the losers played for places 5-6 in the tournament. The 4th and 5th ranked teams of the Group A and 4th ranked team of the Group B played a single round robin for the places 7-9 in the tournament. The result of the group stage game between 4th and 5th ranked teams of the Group A remained in the placement games and they only played against the 4th ranked team of the Group B.
In the semifinals the 1st team of the Group A took on the winner from the play off game of 2nd Group B – 3rd Group A while the 1st team of the Group B faced the winner of the play off game between the 2nd team of the Group A – 3rd team of the Group B. The winners of the semifinals played for the European Champion title in the gold medal game and the losers for the bronze in the bronze medal game.
The ranking of teams in the group stage and for places 7-9 was determined by IBSA rule 49:
– Goal Difference – subtracting a team’s goals scored against from their goals scored in the total round robin
– Number of Wins – teams will be assessed on the number of wins in the round robin. Teams with the most wins will be given the higher ranking.
– Goals Against – the team with the lowest goals against in the overall competition will be given the higher ranking.
– Goal Difference – The same procedure shall be used again, but this time only the games in the round robin between the teams that have to be separated shall be included.
– In the event that a tie occurs between more than two teams, the above criteria will be used, in order, until one team has been separated.
