PARTICIPATING CLUBS & REFEREES

Theere are five participating clubs from four different countries in the tournament: Goalball Nais (SRB), Kleio Thessaloniki (GRE), USV Hercules (NED), RGC Hansa (GER), GC
Fenix (MKD).

Please find the team line-ups here

Special permission:

We would like to inform you that the EGCA Competition Committee has approved a special permission to two USV Hercules players, Ronald Klaver and Corne Speksnijder, to play in the Nis Grand Prix, even though they have already played in the Champions League this season and are over 23 years of age, which is against the player regulations of the Grand Prix tournaments.

The reason for this is a very unfortunate misunderstanding in a discussion between the USV Hercules representative and the Chairperson of the EGCA Competition Committee regarding the level of the tournament. The EGCA Competition Committee reached its decision based on the following reasons:

  • Klaver and Speksnijder have previously played in Grand Prix tournaments, and their level was not considered too high for Grand Prix;
  • Hercules would not have been able to bring replacement players to their team, which would have forced them to cancel their participation and suffer significant financial losses;
  • Additionally, two teams had already withdrawn from the tournament at the last minute, and Hercules’ withdrawal would have reduced the number of teams to only four;
  • Hercules’ withdrawal would have caused significant financial losses to the tournament organizers and decreased the overall competitiveness for the other participating clubs.
    The EGCA Competition Committee has already taken steps to prevent such unfortunate exceptions to the rules in the future. We kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.

REFEREES & TOURNAMENT JURY

There are four referees in the tournament: Reni Ibrahimova (BUL), Sarah Küper (GER), Lapadatu Sorin Oktavian (ROM), Vilma Venckutonyte (LTU)

The tournament jury is consisted by Vilma Venckutonyte (chief referee), Stefan Stevanovic (tournament director) and a club representative (will be chosen from a team which has not played in the game that is under the protest).

PLAY SYSTEM

Teams will play a single round robin and the 1st team of the round robin will be
qualified straight to the gold medal game of the tournament.

2nd and 3rd ranked teams of the round robin will play in the semifinal game; a winner of
the semifinal game will play in the gold medal game of the tournament and a loser will
perform in the bronze medal game.

There is also a play-off game for 4th and 5th
ranked teams of the round robin; a winner of this game will play in the bronze medal
game and a loser will be ranked at 5th place in the tournament.

If there is a draw after the regular time in the semifinal, play-off or medal games, over
time will be played with golden goal rule and if there is still a draw, the extra throws
competition will be organized to determine the winner of the game.

Ranking of Teams in a Round Robin*
The final ranking of teams at the conclusion of a round robin will be determined by the
number of points earned. Each team will earn three (3) points for every win, one (1)
point for every tie score, and zero (0) points for every loss. If two or more teams have
the same number of points at the end of the round robin, the teams will be separated
by using the following methods in this order:

  • -Goal Difference – subtracting a team’s goals scored against from their goals scored in
  • the total round robin
  • Number of Wins – teams will be assessed on the number of wins in the round robin.
    Teams with the most wins will be given the higher ranking.
  • Goals Against– the team with the lowest goals against in the overall competition will
    be given the higher ranking.
  • Goal Difference – The same procedure shall be used again, but this time only the
    games in the round robin between the teams that have to be separated shall be
    included.
    In the event that a tie occurs between more than two teams, the above criteria will be
    used, in order, until one team has been separated. The above criteria will then be used
    again, from the beginning and order (and will continue to do so), until all teams have
    been separated and ranking has been decided. In case of tie, draw will apply.
