Registration closed on Saturday, November 16th for the Champions League 2025 with a remarkable total of 26 teams signing up. Unfortunately, two clubs had to be placed on the waiting list.
This season will feature three qualification stages. Each stage will host eight teams, with the top three from each advancing to the Final Stage. The final Stage will take place in Matosinhos, Portugal, from June 19th to 23rd 2025. The host club FC Porto has automatically secured its place in the finals.
TEAM RANKING SYSTEM FOR QUALIFICATION STAGES
Teams have been seeded into groups according to the following system:
- Pot A: National champions ranked according to their countries’ standings in the most recent European Championship.
- Pot B: Teams that participated in last season’s Champions League, ranked by their standings in the Champions League rankings (available here:
- Pot C: Teams that are neither national champions nor participants in the 2024 Champions League, ranked based on their performance in their national championships or goalball leagues.
Also some clubs could take part just at one stage so they have been ranked over clubs who has a chance to participate more than one stage.
GROUP FORMATION
The group stages are organized as follows:
- Group A: Rankings 1, 4, 5, and 8.
- Group B: Rankings 2, 3, 6, and 7.

“This amazing result demonstrates the remarkable progress being made in club goalball in Europe, and the Champions League has established itself as a major annual goal and dream for clubs. I am particularly delighted that we are hosting the first-ever EGCA competition in the United Kingdom and that for the first time a club from Turkiye is participating in the Champions League. Turkiye is undoubtedly the largest goalball nation in our continent in terms of the number of participants. Now it’s time for EGCA and our fantastic organizers to prepare in the best possible way for an incredible Champions League season”, delighted the EGCA President Mr. Erkki Miinala.
