EGCA has designed a brand new international competition for the goalball clubs in Europe called European Grand Prix. The first ever European Grand Prix stage was played in Rostock, Germany and five clubs from three countries took part in this historical tournament! The tournament was played under hard Corona restrictions but thanks for the organizer and participating clubs, referees, officials and volunteers the event went htrough well and smoothly.
USV Hercules from Netherlands became the winners of the tournament by beating the Polish club Goalball Gdansk with 8-3 result in the final. Bronze medal game of the tournament was a great thriller between two young, hungry and talented teams RGC Hansa U23 and USV Hercules U23; the host club managed finally to win with one goal margin 7-6.
Corne Speksnijder from USV Hercules was awarded the most valuable male player in the tournament and he was also the top scorer of the weekend with 38 goals. Femke van den Born from USV Hercules U23 was titled the most valuable female player of the tournament and Charlotte Kaercher from RGC Hansa Ladies became the top female scorer with 18 goals.
